🎣 Free Fishing Trips for Veterans
Monmouth County is casting a line of gratitude for our veterans with a new partnership that’s all about fun, fellowship, and fresh air. The County Board of Commissioners has joined forces with the Veterans Foundation of America to offer saltwater fishing excursions for local veterans.
“This is a wonderful way to honor those who have given so much for our country,” said Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone. “We’re proud to support these outings that bring veterans together for camaraderie and relaxation.”
The fishing trips launch from Monmouth Cove Marina, perfectly equipped to welcome the Foundation’s boat, according to Commissioner Ross F. Licitra. Spending a day on the water with fellow veterans provides a chance to unwind, connect, and enjoy the great outdoors. Veterans interested in booking a fishing trip can visit the Veterans Foundation of America’s website at www.thevfa.org.
Monmouth County also offers a range of programs through its Office on Veterans Services, including help with benefits, counseling referrals, and assistance with military records. For more information, call 732-683-8675.
🏥 Hospital-Level Care—Now at Home

Hackensack Meridian Health is transforming how patients receive care—by bringing the hospital to you.
Hospital From Home, an innovative program delivering hospital-level care in the comfort of patients’ own homes, is now expanding to serve more communities. Patients who qualify can now access this program through Ocean University Medical Center in Brick and Southern Ocean Medical Center in Stafford Township, in addition to the existing programs at Hackensack, Edison, and Neptune.
“For more than a year, our Hospital From Home program has given over 1,000 patients the ability to heal where they’re most comfortable—at home,” said Robert C. Garrett, FACHE, CEO of Hackensack Meridian Health. “We’re proud to expand this successful program to even more New Jersey families.”
This program means fewer hospital stays, more comfort, and high-quality care delivered right where patients feel safest. It’s health care reimagined—and it’s happening right here in New Jersey. Learn more here.

🕯️Monmouth County Plans Sept.11 Memorial Ceremony
On Thursday, September 11, 2025, at 8 a.m., the Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners will hold their annual September 11 Memorial Ceremony at Mount Mitchill Scenic Overlook, 460 Ocean Blvd., Atlantic Highlands.
This solemn event honors the memory of the 147 Monmouth County residents who lost their lives in the tragic terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone encourages the community to come together to remember and reflect:
“The County’s 9/11 Memorial Ceremony reaffirms our commitment to never forget the victims who lost their lives on that day and in the days that followed.”
Family members of the victims are warmly invited to participate by reading the names of their loved ones during the ceremony. If immediate family cannot attend, extended family members are welcome to take part as well.
If you or someone you know would like to participate, please contact Lauren Brand at [email protected] or Danielle Banyacski at [email protected] by Monday, Sept. 1.

🔒 Seniors & AI: Is It Safe? Here’s What You Need to Know
By now, you might be thinking: This AI stuff sounds pretty handy—but is it safe? Great question! Like anything online, it all comes down to using it wisely. Think of AI as a helpful neighbor—it can fetch information, suggest ideas, or help you write—but you wouldn’t hand your house keys to a stranger, right? Same idea here.
✅ Smart Ways to Use AI:
Stick to trusted names like ChatGPT, Siri, or Google Assistant.
Ask for quick answers, ideas, or even help drafting an email or letter.
Treat AI like your personal assistant—not your doctor, lawyer, or financial planner.
🚫 What to Avoid:
Never share Social Security numbers, passwords, or banking information.
Don’t click on unexpected links or emails claiming to be from an AI service.
Take AI answers with a grain of salt—double-check facts before acting on them.
💡 Bottom Line: AI can be a wonderful helper, but just like advice from a stranger, it’s best to double-check what you hear. You’re already smarter than any robot—and now you know how to use one to your advantage. 😉
